In April 2016 major changes were enacted in NZ employment law – one area being Parental Leave.
Paid Parental Leave increased to 18 weeks. Parents now qualify after 26 weeks work – even if they have changed employers.
It used to be that you had to work 26 weeks for the same employer to claim Parental Leave. Now to qualify you need only to have worked 26 weeks in total out of the last 52 weeks – regardless of employer.
