Hopefully I don’t need to tell anyone how important it is to have good anti-virus software on computers. We live so much of our lives via these things now that leaving your computer vulnerable would be a bit like handing out your house key to random strangers on the street. As a rule, if you use the internet, you need anti-virus software.
There are a range of free versions which will provide some protection but will treat your computer like a billboard, popping up ads to you at every opportunity, making you wonder whether the cure isn’t worse than the disease. In fact some of the paid software is like this as well. Norton antivirus will clog up your computer so much you’ll think you have a virus, then ask you constantly if you would like to upgrade. And then when you get sick of it and uninstall the software they will continue to charge your credit card every year afterwards until you specifically tell them to stop and will then refuse to refund you for any of these payments prior to the last 12 months. At least, that’s what happened to me.
So the software that we recommend and manage for our clients is called ESET. If you’re wondering whether you already have it on your computer, it looks like this:
It’s a very good piece of software which doesn’t take up too much space or insist on advertising to you constantly. The benefit of buying it through us is that you won’t need to enter any credit card details. When it comes up for renewal we receive a notification and then send you an email asking whether you would like us to renew it. If you do we will renew it remotely without the need to see your computer at all and we will email you an invoice. Any subsequent years are discounted by about 35% on the initial cost (for the standard plan) and you can also access a multi-saver discount by lumping all of your computers together under one license. All in all it’s a great piece of cost effective software which we make very easy to manage. If you would like more information about anti-virus software, or ESET specifically, please contact me. I’ll be happy to help.
